Alesandro Porreca

Alesandro (Alex) Porreca, 75, of 359 McDowell Avenue died Thursday at 8:23 p.m. in Ohio Valley Hospital.  He had been a patient for four days.  He had been in failing health for three years.  He was married to the former Annunziata Taglieri Nov. 8, 1908, in Italy. They celebrated (heir 50th wedding anniversary in 1958.  Mr. Porreca came to the United States in 1909 and had resided in Steubenville since then.  He had been employed as a color maker by the Chicago Wall Paper Co., until 1948.  In 1946 he opened a restaurant in the 700 block of Market Street and was active in the business until he was forced to retire on account of his health in 1951.  He was active in the Jefferson County Civil Defense Unit during World War II.  He was a member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church.  He leaves his widow two sons, Costantine (Conny) Porreca and Paul Porreca, both of Steubenville; two daughters Mrs. Pietro (Adelia) Antonelli and Mrs. Ernest (Edith) Latianzi, also of Steubenville; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons and one daughter (infants), and two brothers and two sisters.  He was born October 30, 1885, in Pettorano sul Gizio, Province of Aquila, Italy, a son of the late
Vincenzo and Domenica Giannamore Porreca.  Friends may call at the Mosti Funeral Home after 8 this evening and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m, and 7 p.m. to in p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Services will be conducted in Our Savior Presbyterian Church Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Mr. Alfred D'Aliberti officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Cemetery.
