FOLLANSBEE - Maria DeStefano D'Aurora, 82, a resident of 508 Rose Street, Follansbee, died at 6:30 a.m. today in St. John Hospital. She was born January 28, 1888, in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy, daughter of the late Domenico and Filomena DeStefano. Mrs. D'Aurora was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Her husband, Giovino D'Aurora, died January 20, 1952. Surviving are three sons, Mino, Dominick and John, all of Follansbee; six daughters, Mrs. Guy (Fannie) Casarcia, Mrs. Anthony (Yolanda) Gillette and Mrs. Attilio (Nina) Boni, all of Follansbee, Miss Margaret D'Aurora and Miss Gena D'Aurora, both at home, and Mrs. John (Dollie) Jackfret of Wellsburg; two brothers, Pete DeStefano of Follansbee and Guy DeStefano of Miami, Florida; 18 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Friends may call at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, today from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Rosary devotions will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday. A Solemn Consecrated Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church with the Rev. Fr. Cesidio J. Federico as celebrant. Interment will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Carmella D'Aurora Bonitatibus

STEUBENVILLE - Mrs. Carmella Bonitatibus, 81, of 633 South Street, Steubenville, died Monday at 7:30 p.m., in St. John Hospital. She had been hospitalized for three days. She was born November 4, 1887, in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Province of Aquila, Italy, a daughter of the late Nicola and Nicolene D'Aurora. She was married in 1907 to Pietro Bonitatibus. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Nick Bonitatibus of Steubenville; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Falkner, Mrs. Charles (Pearl) Zende, Mrs, Levio (Anita) Sperduti and Mrs. Leo (Ida) Kuczynski, all of Steubenville; a brother, Rocco D'Aurora of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Mosti Funeral Home today from 1 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Requiem High Mass will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church with the Rev. Edmund Stabene as celebrant. Interment will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Rosary devotions will be held Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Joseph D'Aurora Sr., 82, of 712 Adams Street passed away at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, November 15, 1964 in the Ohio Valley Hospital, where he had been a patient since November llth. Born, October 7, 1882 in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Province of Aquila Italy. Son of the late Anthony and Angela Spagnoli D'Aurora. Came to the United States in 1903 and settled in Mingo Junction. In 1915, he moved to Steubenville and was self-employed as owner and operator of restaurant and cafe at corner of Adams and South 6th Street until his retirement in 1962. Married to the former Marie Costanzo, October 9, 1910 and she preceded him in death in 1955. He is survived by 3 sons, Anthony J. D'Aurora, Guy D'Aurora and Joseph D'Aurora all of Steubenville, Ohio; 2 daughters, Miss Angela D'Aurora and Miss Julia D'Aurora both at home; 1 brother Daniel D'Aurora of St. Petersburg, Florida; 1 niece, Mrs. Alda D'Aurora Daverio of Steubenville and 6 grandchildren. Preceded in death beside his parents and wife, by 1 infant daughter, Dora; 2 brothers Guy and Sebastian D'Aurora both of Italy; 3 sisters, Mrs. Frances DiStefano, Mrs. Carmella Carrara and Margaret D'Aurora all of Italy. Member of Columbus Club and St. Anthony Church where Solemn Requlem High Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Wednesday November 18, 1964. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mosti Funeral Home 121 South Fourth Street, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., today. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.

Golden Wedding - Mr. and Mrs. John D'Aurora
The 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John D'Aurora appeared in the Steubenville (Ohio) Herald Star on December 5, 1963
A Mass in observance of the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John D'Aurora of 224 May Road, Follansbee, will be celebrated Sunday, December 8, in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. A family dinner will be held at 1:30 pm. in the Ft. Steuben Hotel and a reception will be held that evening at 7:00 pm. in the Eagles Home in Follansbee, Mr. and Mrs. D'Aurora, both were born in Pettorano sul Gizio, Province of Aquila, Italy. They went from Italy to Canton in 1913 and were married there December 6, 191. After leaving Canton in 1923 they came to Mingo Junction and resided there until 1959 when they moved to Follansbee. Mr. D'Aurora was employed by the Carnegie Illinois Steel Corp., Mingo Junction, for 21 years. He later was employed by Wheeling Steel Corp. for 17 years until his retirement in 1960. They both are members of the St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. They have a daughter, Mrs. Gino (Jennie) Cercone, of Follansbee and three grand children.

Mino Rocco D'Aurora
Many natives of Pettorano sul Gizio went on to great careers in many fields, one of the those was Mino R. D'Aurora. Born August 12, 1909 in Pettorano, he was the son of Giovino and Maria DeStefano D'Aurora. Mino grew up in Follansbee, West Virginia. He was active in his community, serving in several elected positions. He was elected to the West Virginia State Legislature and served 1959-1973. He was a popular politician throughout the state. D'Aurora died November 23, 1997.

FOLLANSBEE — Vincenzo D'Aurora, 69, of 162 Locust Lane, Hooverson Heights, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born April 9, 1889, in Pettorano sul Gizio, Italy, the son of the late Pasqual and Liberate Allegretta D'Aurora. Mr. D'Aurora came to the United States in 1901. He had been a resident of Follansbee since 1920, coming from Ridgeway, Pennsylvania. He had been employed by the Follansbee Steel Corp. for 32 years, having retired due to ill health. Mr. D'Aurora was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge and the Garibaldi Lodge. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Julia Noelli D'Aurora; ten daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Croce, Mrs. Natalena Ranalli, Mrs. Concetta Settimio and Mrs. Lucy Rotellini, all of Follansbee, Mrs. Mary Marzano of Cleveland, Mrs. Antoinette Stataro of Wellsburg, Mrs. Julia Bannon of Wheeling, Mrs. Donna Scarnecchia of Warren, Ohio, and Miss Anna D'Aurora and Miss Carmela D'Aurora, both at home; two sons, Patsy D'Aurora of Follansbee and Edward D'Aurora, at home; one brother, Dominic D'Aurora of Follansbee; one sister in Italy, and 18 grandchildren.
