John Cercone, 68, of 953 Jefferson Street, Steubenville, died today at 12:15 a.m. at his residence. He was born June 24, 1897 in Pettorano sul Gizio, Italy, a son of the late Concezio and Bridgette Federico Cercone and came to the United States in 1914. He was a retired employee of the Follansbee plant of the Wheeling Steel Corporation. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and the Garibaldi Lodge of Follansbee and the Follansbee Eagles. He was married in 1923 to Theresa Bonaventura, who survives him. Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, C.P., Jack and Gino of Follansbee and John Jr. of Weirton; two daughters, Margaret and Dora, both at home; a brother, Joseph of Follansbee and eight grand children. Friends may call at the James Funeral Home in Follansbee from 8 to 9:30 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Anthony Wojtus officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
