Golden Wedding - Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cocco

The 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cocco appeared in the Steubenville (Ohio) Herald Star on September 16, 1959.

Avenue, Follansbee, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary
Sunday, September 20.  A family dinner will be held in the residence at 1 p.m. and "Open House" will be held at the Follansbee Community House, with a buffet dinner between 4 and 8 o'clock.  Arrangements are being made by their children and all their many friends are being invited to attend.  Mr. Cocco came to America from Pettorano, Sul Gizio, Italy, in 1901 and lived in Dover. Ohio, until 1905 at which time he came to Follansbee.  In 1909 he returned to Italy to marry the former Carmela Ciccolella
and after one year they came to Follansbee to make their home. 
Mr. Cocco was employed at the Follansbee Steel Corporation for 45 years working as hot mill shearman.  He is now the owner of the
Alco Furniture & Appliance Company at 744 Main Street, Follansbee.  They are members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.  Mr. Cocco is one of the three surviving charter members of the Garibaldi lodge and a member of the Holy Name Society.  Mrs. Cocco is a member of St. Lucy's Guild, Altar and Rosary Society and Sisters of the Garibaldi.  They are the parents of two sons, Leo Cocco, 761 Virginia Avenue, and Mario Cocco, 933 Virginia
Avenue, Follansbee; and three daughters Mrs. Joseph Basile and
Mrs. John Wallace of Follansbee, and Mrs. James Oliveto, of Wellsburg.  Two sons, Domenick and Alex are deceased.  They have 15 grandchildren and one great grand daughter.  (This is a part of my family - Carmela Ciccolella was my grandfather John's sister.  The photos are of Anthony Cocco and Carmela Ciccolella Cocco.)

  1. Wow, this is my great grandma and grandpa. My Grandma was Kathleen Cocco or as stated Mrs Joseph Basile. We have to be related, I remember going to family get gathers and there were also Ciccolella's there. I have to check with my mom (Mary Basile Salamay) but we have a cousin that use to live down the street from us in Washington PA, His name is Johnny Ciccolella and now lives in Vegas.
